We loved the Polaroid Cube+ when it debuted at CE Week this year and Polaroid is now taking pre-orders on the new action camera on the company’s website.
The new Cuby+ is an updated version of the original Polaroid Cube that was released in 2014. The iconic 35mm cube-shaped device offers a low price-point and sturdy design, making it perfect for anyone that enjoys capturing spontaneous shots in any situation.
“We knew we had to take an entirely different approach when we introduced the Polaroid Cube,” said Scott W. Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid. “The action camera category was – and still is – a crowded space, so the ability to differentiate while adhering to the core values of our brand was paramount. The Polaroid Cube is a fun, easy-to-use, affordable lifestyle-centric action camera that immediately struck a chord with consumers around the world. We’re excited to grow the Polaroid Cube family with the introduction of the Wi-Fi enabled model and to open up pre-orders today for those consumers who are eager to be first in line when it ships this summer.”
olaroid continued the partnership with renowned design firm Ammunition to create the camera. Led by industrial designer Robert Brunner, Ammunition is the design studio behind award-winning consumer products for brands including Adobe, Beats by Dre, Square, Lyft and Williams-Sonoma.
“It’s fantastic for us to work with Polaroid creating products that evoke the brand’s incredible heritage. With the original Polaroid Cube, we incorporated all the classic aspects of Polaroid; fun, spontaneity, accessibility and ease of use,” said Robert Brunner, founder/partner of Ammunition. “The Polaroid Cube+ maintains the tiny cubic form factor and simple one-button operation that people love so much, while adding additional functionality that takes the product to the next level.”
The Polaroid Cube+ adds Wi-Fi, image stabilization, enhanced low light performance, and increased memory capacity with the ability to record with up to a 64GB micro SD card. The Polaroid Cube+ also allows consumers to record 1080p full-HD video at 60 frames per second and take eight megapixel still images.
The new WiFi feature is compatible with iOS and Android devices via the Polaroid Cube+ app, allowing users to sync the camera with their smartphone or tablet to capture and share their videos and photos from virtually anywhere.
Not only can consumers use the app as a remote viewfinder to frame their shots, it also gives them the ability to control settings, begin/end recording, capture stills and edit, save, print or share, all while on-the-go.
The Polaroid Cube+ lifestyle action camera is available for pre-order now at polaroidcube.com/cubeplus and will ship at the end of August for $149.99.
