Production on “Star Trek 3” only just began but it looks like Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto will both be returning for a fourth installment to the rebooted franchise, should the studio decide to make one.

Early reports from THR have stated that both actors will be reprising their roles as Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock for the fourth film.

Justin Lin is currently directing the third installment, working off a script written by Doug Jung and Simon Pegg. Joining Pine and Quinto in the third installment are Zoe Saldana, Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba.

The news indicates that Kirk and Spock will at least survive the third film in the long-run.

Fans still have a long wait even before the third-film hits theaters, the third instalment is scheduled to be released on July 8, 2016.

The signing reportedly took place after Pine and Quinto renegotiated their original contracts, with Chris Pine reportedly now earning $6 million if the studio does indeed create a fourth film. The studio hasn’t made an official announcement on the fourth film at this time, but if the project should move forward, it’s nice to know that two of the main-stars will be returning.
