Stupid Sexy Flanders, making us love him before the voice-actor behind the neighborino leaves us for good. FOX has yet to confirm that Harry Shearer, the the man that voices Ned Flanders, Mr Burns, Seymour Skinner and a host of other smaller characters on The Simpsons, will be leaving the show, but the actor has indicated that he will not be joining the cast for the new season.
Shearer is one of the original cast, he is also the voice of Reverend Lovejoy, Otto the school bus driver, giggling Dr Hibbert, and live on-the-scene- reporter Kent Brockman. Shearer talked about his decision to leave the show earlier today on Twitter. While quoting one of the executive producers, James L. Brooks, lawyers Shearer wrote: “Show will go on, Harry will not be part of it, wish him the best.” The following Tweet read, “This because I wanted what we’ve always had: the freedom to do other work. Of course, I wish him the very best.” Shearer did not elaborate on what that other work would be at this time.
We reported earlier this month that ‘The Simpsons’ was renewed for another two seasons, this will push the series into season 27 and season 28 and the show’s running total of episodes will reach 625 by the end of season 28. For worried fans, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, and Hank Azaria have already signed-on for the new seasons.
