Natalie Portman to play Jacqueline Kennedy in biopic
It was confirmed today that Natalie Portman has agreed to star in a new film called ‘Jackie.’ Portman will be taking on the role of Jackie Kennedy in the new film with the Chilean director that brought us the Academy Award-nominated film ‘No’ in 2012. The biopic will be directed by Pablo Larrain, and will follow the events of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
The timeline of the film will cover the first four days following the assassination. Portman will be teaming up with her former ‘Black Swan’ director in the film, Darren Aronofsky, as he will be producing this film. Portman won an Oscar for her role in Black Swan with Aronofsky’s direction.
Juan de Dios Larrain, Scott Franklin and Aronofsky are producing the film together, production is expected to begin in late 2015.
While at Cannes this year Portman will be featuring her directorial debut, the Hebrew-language feature called ‘A Tale of Love of Darkness.’ The film is premiering at the festival, out of competition, and will be screened on Thursday, May 14.
