Lily James to star in Kaiser’s Last Kiss with Christopher Plummer
Lily James will be following up her role as ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ with a WWII period-piece. More information on the film will be released later this week at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, but we do know a few details about the film, and the role that James will be playing.
The upcoming spy thriller is called “The Kaiser’s Last Kiss,” Christopher Plummer will also be featured in the film as the titular Kaiser in the story. Directing the film will be David Leveaux, working on a script written by Simon Burke.
The film itself is based on the popular novel written by Alan Judd, released back in 2003. Lotus Entertainment is expected to sell the film abroad at the Cannes Film Festival, which begins on May 13, 2015. Producers on the film are Judy Tossell and Lou Pitt; while Bill Haber and Phil Geier are attached as executive producers.
As for James, she will be starring in the film as a member of the World War II Dutch Resistance, working under-cover to infiltrate the Kaiser’s personal life and working under Churchill’s orders. With the Nazi’s looking for a spy amongst the organization, a love-affair between a high-ranking German officer and the under-cover agent could ruin any chance of a defection, and expose the operative.
James recently wrapped her filming on ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,’ she took on the role of Elizabeth Bennet in the highly-anticipated film. Of course more people may recognize James from her recent role in Disney’s live-action film adaptation of ‘Cinderella.’ More information on ‘Kaiser’s Last Kiss,’ as well as casting and a release window are expected to be announced when the film is shopped at the Cannes Film Festival later this week. A trailer for ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ is expected to be released as well over the next few months, that film will hit theaters on February 5, 2016.
