There is a new must-see comedy-drama on the horizon, and it stars the ever-wondrous performer Meryl Streep. The famous actor will be taking on the role of a singer/guitarist in her new film, and the project was put together under the direction of Oscar-winner Jonathan Demme. That’s not all, the film was written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody.

The film is called, ‘Ricki and the Flash,’ and the original comedy will feature live musical performances, with Streep starring as Ricki Rendazzo. Streep’s character is a guitar heroine who made a world of mistakes as she followed her dreams of rock-and-roll stardom. Returning home, Ricki gets a shot at redemption and a chance to make things right as she faces the music with her family.

Streep stars opposite her real-life daughter Mamie Gummer; Rick Springfield, portraying a Flash member in love with Ricki; Kevin Kline as Ricki’s ex-husband; and Audra McDonald as Kline’s new wife.

As I mentioned before the film was directed by Jonathan Demme and written by Diablo Cody. Marc Platt, Diablo Cody, Mason Novick and Gary Goetzman produced the film. Ron Bozman, Adam Siegel, Lorene Scafaria and Ben Waisbren are executive producers.
