Irrational Man trailer: Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix star in Woody Allen’s next film
The upcoming film ‘Irrational Man’ is set to premier at the Cannes Film Festival this year, but a new trailer offers a quick look at the film before its big debut. The romantic dramedy is also a bit of a mystery film, starring Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix and Parker Posey. Joining them on-screen will also be actor Jamie Blackley.
In the film Joaquin Phoenix plays a small-town college professor, the character is going through a bit of a mid-life crisis that is set further in motion after meeting a new student played by Emma Stone. It’s not your typical, boy-meets girl picture, thanks to the often times bizarre stylings of director Woody Allen, who is not only directing the film but wrote the script as well.
It was Sony Pictures Classics that acquired the North American rights to the film earlier this year, the film is set to release later this summer. As we reported earlier, the film will have its world-premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the stars of the film are expected to attend the festival next month. Producing the film are Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson.
Emma Stone worked with Allen in the past on the film ‘Magic in the Moonlight.’ That film was a romantic comedy, following the life an older Englishman that was brought in to help unmask a possibly fraudulent deal. Woody Allen wrote and directed that film as well, Colin Firth starred as the older Englishman, alongside Emma Stone and Marcia Gay Harden.
“Irrational Man” will be released in the US on July 17.
