Ben Hardy to play Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse
More terrific news for X-MEN fans came out this week, Bryan Singer has confirmed that non-other than Ben Hardy will be playing the role of Angel in the upcoming film ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.
The casting news came from EMPIRE, who confirmed the news with Singer earlier today. This will actually mark the return of Angel, as the character was in a previous installment. Not only is Angel set to return, the actual Archangel might make an appearance in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ as well, but Singer stopped short of confirming the alternate version of the character.
In the interview Singer said, “Ben Hardy is Angel — I shall confirm it for you!” Singer told Empire. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say …” As usual social-media exploded with the news, and the hints are just classic Singer. If you’re unfamiliar with Archangel, he sits with as one of the horsemen with Apocalypse. Angel takes on a new form in the comics when he becomes Archangel, with metal wings and blue-skin.
The last time we saw Angel (or as others know him Warren Worthington III) it was back in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ when Ben Foster took the role. Foster won’t be returning for the new film, it will be Ben Hardy moving forward. Fans of Hardy might know him best for his role on the TV series ‘EastEnders,’ he plays the role of Peter Beale. Although unlikely at this stage in production, a few more mutants might find there way into the film, we can name a few more we would like to see added to the cast and we are sure you could as well.
Eager fans will have to wait until ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ hit theaters later this year to get a look at Angel. The film is set to begin production this month with a premiere date set for May 27, 2016.
