HBO has started promoting the second season of ‘True Detectives,’ the network released a short teaser-trailer showing a few the cast-members fans can expect to see in the new season. Starring in season two of the popular series are Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch. You can get your first look at the new characters that will be featured in the highly-anticipated second season thanks to the teaser below.
HBO announced earlier this year that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn would be taking two of the lead-roles, McAdams and Kitsch were the final confirmations for season two. As for behind the camera, Justin Lin directed the first two episodes of season two, which will premiere later this summer. Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of the series, is writing the second season.
Season two will take place on the west coast, in sunny California. The story will focus on three police officers and a former-criminal with a dark past, who comes under investigation after his business partner is murdered. In the new season McAdams and Kitsch are expected to play cops, while Farrell also plays an officer but with connections to the mob. Vaughn will play the criminal-empire leader in question. Kelly Reilly was also added to the cast for season two, she is set to play a former D-list actress named Jordan, who is the wife of Vaughn’s character. After everything is said and done, the casting seems to be a perfect fit for the new season (at least that’s what we hope).
Fans of the first season won’t have to wait that long for the season two to hit HBO, or the new streaming-only option HBO offers for cord-cutters. The second season of ‘True Detectives’ is set to premiere on June 21, 2015. Of course season one set the bar pretty high, but we have a lot riding on McAdams this time around.
