Forget about the illegal downloads and the converted video files, now you can own official digital-copies of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise in glorious HD. The digital-release of the former films are meant to be the perfect precursor for fans that are excited to see the release of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ this December, and the digital re-release of the films are scheduled to become available later this week.
This marks the first time that digital copies of the films will be released in the digital format. Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox made the official announcement early this morning that the companies will be partnering to release the ‘Star Wars Digital Movie Collection’ this month. Now digital fans can add all six epic films in the Saga, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi to their digital library and watch them anywhere. The new set will be made available globally beginning Friday, April 10.
The Star Wars Saga is now available for pre-order on Amazon Instant Video, it will also be made available on iTunes and Google Play later this week. Amazon customers and fans in the US, UK and Germany can pre-order the entire bundle or pick-and-choose each film individually to pre-order, and instantly watch when available this Friday, April 10th.
