Ryan Reynolds’ first Deadpool pic is pure genius
Fans of Deadpool already know that the antihero is often a comedic-superstar and the first picture of Ryan Reynolds in costume as the popular merc, is one for the fridge. The picture was released earlier today, Friday, and was released by Ryan Reynolds himself on Twitter. The single picture shows (what we can assume) is Reynolds in Deadpool’s iconic suit, laying by the fire in-between filming.
Marvel is currently shooting the film in North America, but the project won’t release in theaters until 2016. X-MEN moviegoers probably remember that Ryan Reynolds played Wade Wilson (also known as Deadpool) in the 2009 film ‘X-MEN Origins: Wolverine,’ but this time he is getting his own movie to capture his antics in all their glory.
Reynolds released the picture with the Tweet, “With great power, comes great irresponsibility. #deadpool #officialsuit @deadpoolmovie.” The single-line is a pretty perfect tagline for the mouthy-merc. Also starring in the film are Morena Baccarin and Ed Skrein. The writing team behind the project consists of Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, the creators of the series.
The internet seemed to take the idea of Ryan Reynolds reprising the role of Deadpool rather well, considering the terrible reaction fans had when Reynolds took on the role of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the 2011 film “Green Lantern.” Reynolds did end up marrying his co-star Blake Lively because of the film, so at least some good came out of it for someone.
Tim Miller will be directing the film, “Deadpool” is scheduled to hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
