Press and attendees at this years Cannes Film festival will get a chance to screen ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ the film will be presented in the Official Selection Out of Competition on Thursday 14th May at the Grand Théâtre Lumière. The film franchise is returning to the big screen with Tom Hardy in the lead-role. The original film premiered back in 1979 with Mel Gibson in the lead-role. After the original film became a global success, two more films were made in the franchise, a sequel made back in 1981 and a third film made back in 1985. All three films starred Gibson.
Just like the original, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ will have groups of bandits and survivors of a post-apocalyptic world, both fighting over the leftover gasoline, food and water that remains on the planet. The film will follow Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) as he meets Empress Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron) as the two try and survive the roaming hordes of bandits and pirates. Nicholas Hoult will also be featured in the new film. If you missed the official trailer that was released by Warner Bros. Pictures earlier this year, you can check out that trailer below.

Miller also directed ‘The Witches of Eastwick,’ and eventually made a name as producer of both television series, TV films and continued making features.
Produced by the Kennedy Miller Mitchell Company, Mad Max: Fury Road is distributed internationally by Warner Bros Pictures, and in certain regions by Village Roadshow Pictures. The film will go on release worldwide following its Cannes preview, on 14th May. More information on Cannes’ screenings will be announced over the next few weeks.
