Morena Baccarin to play Copycat in Deadpool
Thanks to a few quick-pictures from the set, we can now confirm that Morena Baccarin will be playing the role of Copycat in the upcoming Deadpool film from 20th Century Fox. The film won’t be released until early next year, but the cast is already having fun teasing fans from the set of the film;
20th Century Fox will release ‘Deadpool’ in February 2016. The film is a spinoff of Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise and production has already begun in Vancouver. Tim Miller is directing the high-profile project, with a script written by series creators Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza.
Starring in the titular role of the film is Ryan Reynolds, he will be joined by Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller. With Ryan Reynolds as the “merc with a mouth” himself, T.J. Miller will be playing the role of Weasel. As for Morena Baccarin, she will be playing the role of Vanessa Geraldine Carlysle. That character may be better known as the shape-shifter Copycat. Morena Baccarin is currently playing the role of Dr. Leslie Thompkins in FOX’s hit series ‘Gotham’, she has also appeared in the ‘Flash’ in the role of Gideon.
Reynolds and Morena Baccarin shared pictures of their chairs on Twitter earlier today, as production is already underway. More casting details and other tidbits are expected to be released as the film moves closer to release. A trailer, and a ton of marketing material for the highly-anticipated film, are also expected to be released over the summer.
