Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set produce and star in a new ‘Fraggle Rock’ movie. This isn’t Gordon-Levitt’s first run-in with adorable Jim Henson creatures, the actor appeared in the ‘Lady Gaga & the Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular’ back in 2013. This time, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be starring and producing the film. The film is sure to introduce the popular children’s series to millions of new viewers, as well as being a retro-treat for adults.

The original Canadian TV series first debuted back in 1983. The show followed a secretive group of Muppets called Fraggles, that lived in Fraggle Rock. There was also a group of Doozers that loved to create structures that the Fraggles like to munch on like sugar-sticks. In a statement following the announcement of the film, Joseph Gordon-Levitt said, “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations.” Gordon-Levitt added, “Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved.”

As for Joseph Gordon-Levitt himself, the popular actor has a few other large projects in the works. One of the largest films set to release is “Snowden,” where Gordon-Levitt will be playing the role of Edward Snowden. That film is being directed by Oliver Stone, based on a screenplay Kieran Fitzgerald and Oliver Stone. Gordon-Levitt will star in the film alongside Shailene Woodley and Scott Eastwood, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Another film set to release in 2015 is ‘Untitled Christmas Eve Project’. The Walk, in which Gordon-Levitt played the role of tight-rope artist Philippe Petit, is set to release on October 2, 2015. That film will also star Ben Kingsley and Charlotte Le Bon, following the tightrope walk between the NYC Twin Towers back in 1974. More information, including casting and a release date, is expected to be released over the next few months. Trailers and marketing materials will be revealed at that time.
