NEXON announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, NEXON Korea Corporation (“Nexon Korea”), will develop a mobile version of the legendary MMORPG FINAL FANTASY XI with popular Japanese game developer SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD (“SQUARE ENIX”). The game is expected to be released in 2016. Now the game won’t be a direct port, but the game will live on in this form after it is closed on PS2 and Xbox 360 this year.
Nexon Korea will leverage FINAL FANTASY XI’s compelling storyline, engaging content and impressive graphics while optimizing features for smartphone and mobile devices to create an immersive, responsive and dynamic experience for mobile users. These optimizations will include improving party organizing systems, enriching solo-play functionality, improving battle functionality and enhancing in-game events and features.

FINAL FANTASY XI Mobile will be available in Japan, Korea, North America, and other Europe and Asia area.
