With the overwhelming success of the live-action debut of ‘Cinderella’ conquering the box-office, Disney has set a release-date for its next live-action remake, ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ Walt Disney Studios has been making quite a few headlines lately, as the studio slowly releases the cast-list for its many upcoming films.

According to Disney, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is now scheduled to release on March 17, 2017. The actual production for the film is slated to start at the end of this year. The cast-list for the film is already quite impressive, with Emma Watson taking the lead-role as Belle. It was confirmed earlier this year that Dan Stevens will be playing the role of The Beast, fans may know him best from his work on the popular period-drama ‘Downton Abbey.’ Other cast confirmations include Luke Evans as the villainous Gaston and Josh Gad of ‘Frozen’ fame, will play Le Fou, his dopey sidekick.

‘Cinderella’ was met with a $70M weekend debut this past weekend, the film released in North America on March 13, 2015. The domestic total is sure to add a vote of confidence as ‘Beauty and the Beast’ prepares to start production. Previous live-action adaptations that Disney has released to-date include ‘Maleficent’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ as well as the recently released ‘Cinderella’. A live-action ‘Dumbo’ is also planned to be released from Disney, that film will be directed by Tim Burton. Although the film was announced, there is no release-date set for the film at this time, there were no casting decisions confirmed at this time either.

Set to release before ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is ‘Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass,’ starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway in their reprising roles. That film will be directed by James Bobin, with Linda Woolverton writing the script. Linda Woolverton wrote the screenplay to first live-action adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s stories back in 2010.
