It’s time to get back into the horror-thriller genre. Focus Features has released a new trailer for their upcoming installment to the ‘Insidious’ franchise, this one called ‘Insidious: Chapter 3,’ offering a look at the highly-anticipated film before its summer release.

The film was written and directed by franchise creator herself, Leigh Whannell, and is set to release in theaters across the country starting in June. The new installment will be a prequel to the other films released in the series. The story is set before the now-popular haunting of the Lambert family. The plot will reveal how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (played by the talented Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (played by Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

The first INSIDIOUS told the story of Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai Lambert (Rose Byrne) and their son Dalton (Ty Simpkins), confronting the demons that possess the young boy. INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, the sequel to the first story, followed the haunted Lambert family as they sought to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.

Peter Schlessel, Focus Features’ CEO, said at the time of production, “It’s with great pleasure that we turn the INSIDIOUS franchise over to the co-creator Leigh Whannell. We are all excited to see in what direction Leigh takes the next installment and we are also glad to welcome James Wan to his new role as producer.” And Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse (which produces the INSIDIOUS franchise) said, “We are all excited to bring a third film to audiences and know James and Leigh have great things in store for our fans.”

The film stars Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott and Angus Sampson. Insidious: Chapter 3 is scheduled to release on June 5, 2015.
