FX had good news and bad news to share with fans of the American Horror franchise this morning, as the network announced the new lead of ‘American Horror Story Hotel’ but said goodbye to a fan-favorite. It was confirmed today that Matt Bomer will be checking into “American Horror Story: Hotel” as the leading-man when the show hits FX later this year. Bomer is a Golden Globe winner, and will officially join the series when the fifth season kicks off.
The news was confirmed during a press-panel in Los Angeles over the weekend during PaleyFest 2015. “I got to dip a toe into the insanity,” Bomer said during the panel, speaking about his former guest-star role on “American Horror: Freakshow.” “I’m looking forward to going to the deep end.”
Bomer will star alongside previously announced star Lady Gaga. “I cannot confirm or deny that it may or may not be a romantic relationship,” Bomer said of his on-screen relationship with Lady Gaga. Other stars attended the event including Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Dennis O’Hare and Finn Wittrock.
It was also confirmed that former “30 Rock” star Cheyenne Jackson will be joining the cast. With all the new additions, fans were saddened to hear that Jessica Lange won’t be returning to the franchise. Lange has starred in all four previous seasons of the hit show. “I’m done,” she said. Lange won two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her work on the popular series. “We’ve had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I’ve had the opportunity to play,” said Lange. “In all the madness, I’ve loved the writers, my actors, Ryan [Murphy] and the whole, I mean, insanity of it, shooting here, shooting in New Orleans, the stories, everything.”
More details on the series, and an eventual premiere date, are will be announced over the next few weeks.
