If you had any doubts that Walt Disney Studios wouldn’t be making a sequel to the studio’s most successful animated film, you can now put them to rest; officially. Disney confirmed that a new film, a sequel to the 2013 world-wide hit ‘Frozen,’ will be released in the future.

Disney confirmed the project during an investors meeting earlier today in San Francisco. By the time ‘Frozen’ was finished at the box-office, it had earned over $1 billion worldwide, and it became the highest grossing animated film of all time, not just for Disney, of all time. Disney stopped short of confirming which cast would be returning, or who would be added, to the new film. The 2013 hit ‘Frozen’ was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee working off a screenplay written by Lee herself. The story was based on the Hans Christian Andersen story called “The Snow Queen.” The original film starred Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, and we do hope that they return for the second installment.

Disney is releasing a ‘Frozen’ short that will played ahead of ‘Cinderella’ in theaters across the nation when the film releases on March 13, 2015. In “Frozen Fever,” it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but when Elsa catches a cold, her powers may put more than just the party at risk. If you missed the trailer promoting ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Frozen Fever’ in theaters, you can watch that above thanks to a promotional video released by Walt Disney Studios to their official YouTube page.

More information on the cast of ‘Frozen 2’ and other details surrounding the highly-anticipated sequel, will be announced as the project moves forward in production. As for now, you can keep listening to the same popular ‘Frozen’ songs that have kept you warm (possibly up at night) all winter.
