Future rock-gods can dust off their Rock Band DLC, Harmonix has confirmed that ‘Rock Band 4’ will be releasing on the PS4 and Xbox One later this year. Eric Pope from Harmonix confirmed the new installment to the popular franchise earlier today on the Playstation blog saying, “All of us at the studio are beyond thrilled to announce today that Rock Band will make its triumphant return to living rooms this year.”

The original Rock Band took over living rooms back in 2007, the franchise has been dormant since ‘Rock Band 3’ released back in 2010. Speaking to fans in the same post Pope stated, “the studio has challenged the perception of what a “music game” can be, and learned a lot in the process. With those lessons under our belt, we felt like we were prepared to dive back into our beloved Rock Band series, and actually push the genre forward. We’ve landed on a design that doubles down on the core Rock Band experience fans love, while innovating on gameplay in some super exciting ways that’ll we’ll have more to say about a little later this year.”

As we mentioned earlier, all of your previous Rock Band DLC that you paid for will be compatible with the new game. Pope stated that adding your previous DLC library will be done, “at no additional cost.” The developers stopped short of confirming all of the new details for the game, but more information and a few gameplay videos are expected to be released over the next few months. The game will most likely be released over the holidays, but no confirmation was made at this time. Harmonix is sure to have an impressive setup at E3 2015 this summer to showoff the game, and we can’t wait to see what they have in-store for fans with the new installment.
