Ex Machina trailer: Alicia Vikander, Domhall Gleeson blur the lines of humanity
Sci-fi fans have a special release date to set a reminder for, April 10th will see the premiere of “Ex Machina,” a new film that has been drawing quite a bit of excitement in the sci-fi community. If you are new to the film, A24 released an official trailer for the project earlier today, which you can see below.
The film was lead by Alex Garland, both the writer and director of “Ex Machina”. Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander round-out the small cast for the sci-fi film, which follows a young programmer who is selected to participate in a “breakthrough experiment” in artificial intelligence. The experiment has the programmer evaluating the human qualities of a “breathtaking female A.I.” which is at the center of the new trailer.
Alex Garland has quite a few popular hits under his belt, but in the past he has mostly focused on writing. Garland wrote the screenplay for “Dredd,” the upcoming “Halo” project, and “28 Days Later,” just to name a few of his past works. He is also an accomplished novelist, among his novels is the hit “The Beach,” which later became a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. “Ex Machina” will be the first film that Garland is directing.
At the center of the film is Alicia Vikander, who recently starred in “Seventh Son” as Alice. Vikander has a few major projects in the works, set to release over the next two-years, including the highly-anticipated film “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”. In that film she will be taking on the role of Gaby Teller. Fans may know Domhnall Gleeson best from his role in the “Harry Potter” series as Bill Weasley, but he has also appeared in a number of new films including “Unbroken,” “Frank,” and is expected to appear in “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens”
