While most of the North East may want to forget about all things ‘Frozen,’ Disney will be releasing a new animated short based on the winter-wonderland during screenings of the live-action ‘Cinderella’ film. The two films will debut together in a small promotion to get fans into the theaters to watch the live-action adaptation of ‘Cinderella,’ and Disney released the first trailer for the short earlier today.
The highly-anticipated short will be the return on Elsa, Anna, Olaf and friends since they conquered the box-office in ‘Frozen’ in 2013. The short is expected to run seven-minutes long, and will feature Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Olaf (Josh Gad) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) as they celebrate a special birthday. The trailer recently premiered on Good Morning America earlier today (Wednesday).
As for the short itself, it will take place after the events of ‘Frozen,’ and this time around the drama is much more low-key. The gang is planning a birthday party for Anna, but things don’t exactly go as planned. The short will debut on March 13, the same day ‘Cinderella’ hits theaters.
If you do plan to see the short, then you can settle-in for the live-action ‘Cinderella’ afterwards, the film was directed by Kenneth Branagh, based on a screenplay written by Chris Weitz. The film stars Lily James, Hayley Atwell and Helena Bonham Carter.
Lily James has several big projects in the works following her role as Cinderella. She will star as Natasha Rostova in a ‘War and Peace,’ as well as taking the role of Elizabeth Bennet in ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’. Haley Atwell is currently starring in ‘Agent Carter’ on ABC in the lead-role. Atwell is also set to star in Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Ant-Man’ when the two popular films hit theaters later this year. Fans of Helena Bonham Carter will see her take up her other popular Disney role, another live-action adaptation, playing the Red Queen once again in ‘Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass’.
