Fans of DC Comics received an early surprise from director Zack Snyder when they checked their Twitter accounts this morning. The popular director offered-up the very first image of the new Aquaman, the image serves as an early teaser for what lies in-store for fans of the underwater-hero. You can checkout the image below via Snyder’s official Twitter account.
Jason Momoa, the actor playing Aquaman, is best known for his rather short role as Khal Drogo in HBO’s hit series ‘Game of Thrones’. You can throw whatever images of Aquaman you may have from the past out the window, Momoa is an Aquaman all to his own. There is no bright blond-hair, no glimmering tights or armor to be seen. The new Aquaman fits rather well into Snyder’s earlier designs of the “Man of Steel” heroes.
Fans of Aquaman can see him when he makes his official DC debut in Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hitting theaters in March 2016. He will be hitting the screen with Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. These are the three pillars of the “Justice League,” which will form its own movie down the line.
Joining the cast will be Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Superman’s ongoing nemesis. Amy Adams will return as Lois Lane, the uppity reporter and love-interest to Clark Kent. Jeremy Irons is taking on the role of Alfred, Batman’s trusted butler and Ray Fisher will enter as Cyborg. Holly Hunter, Laurence Fishburne, Christina Wren and Callan Mulvey are also set to appear in the long-awaited sequel. Other rumors swirling about are that Jena Malone will be featured in the film, possibly as Harley Quinn.
