Sharknado 3 heads to Universal Orlando for shooting
Asylum has confirmed that the studio will be taking over parts of Universal Orlando to shoot scenes for the upcoming SyFy hit ‘Sharknado 3’. According to the latest announcement from the production company, ‘Sharknado 3’ will head to the popular resort to “shoot key scenes” at Universal Orlando Resort. As the title suggests, this is the third installment to the widely popular ‘Sharknado’ series, made famous after taking over Twitter and other social-media platforms when the first film debuted back in 2013.
The film itself stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid and Cassie Scerbo. Fans will have to wait until later this summer to see the new film, ‘Sharknado 3’ will premiere on Syfy in July. In the new installment, fans can expect mass destruction and over-the-top moments of gore and/or terror in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., before roaring down the Eastern Seaboard and into Florida.
If you were a fan of the first of the two films, rest assured that Ziering and Reid are set to reprise their roles as Fin and April, respectively. Joining them on-screen will be Cassie Scerbo, she will be playing the role of Nova, a character first introduced in the original 2013 ‘Sharknado’ movie. When it aired last July 30, ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One’ became Syfy’s most-watched Original Movie ever with 3.9 million total viewers, that film also starred Vivica A. Fox as Skye and Mark McGrath as Martin Brody.
Anthony C. Ferrante will once again direct, working off an original screenplay written by Thunder Levin. Sharknado 3 is a production of The Asylum. It’s unclear if ‘Sharknado 3’ will be the final film, since it will complete the trilogy of shark-tastic surprises. The films have been some of the most popular original films in SyFy’s history, a record that may ensure a steady stream of Sharknados for the next few years. Fans can catch the film in July when it premieres exclusively on the network.
