Gotham’s Morena Baccarin added to new Deadpool film
The upcoming X-Men spinoff ‘Deadpool’ has added another cast-member, the studio has chosen Morena Baccarin to co-star opposite Ryan Reynolds in the new film. Fans of Baccarin may remember her best from “Homeland,” but she is currently doing a fantastic job on FOX’s hit series ‘Gotham’.
As for ‘Deadpool,’ Baccarin is set to star as the love interest for Wade Winston Wilson the titular character in the film. Deadpool is one of the more interesting characters to be spun-off from the X-Men franchise, a former mercenary, Deadpool is a scarred assassin known for his unpredictable behavior and comedic banter. Of course this won’t be the only X-Men spinoff in the works, fans can also look forward to Channing Tatum as ‘Gambit’ when the film releases in October, 2016. The next major installment to the X-Men franchise is set to release in May, 2015, that film is ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ starring Jennifer Lawrence, Evan Peters, Michael Fassbender, Sophie Turner and Hugh Jackman. Also set to appear in that film are James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Alexandra Shipp.
Also appearing in the film will be Gina Carano, she will be taking the role as Angel Dust. Tim Miller will be directing this new installment, working from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing the film.
With Deadpool still a long-way off, Ryan Reynolds has a few projects in the works before his new comic-book adaptation hits the screen. This summer he will star in ‘Selfless’ with Matthew Goode, he will also have a role in ‘Criminal’ with Kevin Costner.
The project itself won’t begin filming until March, the film has a release window of February 2016. More casting news and other details about the plot of the film are expected to be released after the film starts shooting in the spring.
