Crimson Peak: Trailer offers first look at Guillermo del Toro film

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for the upcoming supernatural mystery film ‘Crimson Peak,’ the studio won’t be releasing the film until later this fall but thriller-fans can get an early glimpse at the highly anticipated film with the trailer below.

The film will star Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston, joining them on screen will be Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver. The film itself will was directed by Guillermo del Toro, who also wrote the script with the help of Matthew Robbins.

The film was produced by Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Guillermo del Toro and Callum Greene. Jillian Share served as executive producer.

“When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger, a young woman is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever,” teases the studio when describing the film. “Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak.”

Fans of Guillermo del Toro already know that he has carved out quite a legacy in the supernatural and sci-fi world, with films like ‘Pan’s Labyrinth,’ ‘Pacific Rim,’ and ‘The Devil’s Backbone’ all generating a healthy following for the popular director. Also a famed writer, Guillermo del Toro’s has also ventured outside of traditional cinema, with the video-game ‘Silent Hills’ and his television work with ‘The Strain,’ have both been highly-anticipated projects in their respective fields.

Jessica Chastain has several projects in the works as well, with roles in ‘The Martian,’ ‘The Zookeeper’s Wife,’ ‘Blonde’ and ‘The Death and Life of John F. Donovan’ all set to premiere over the next two years. Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his beloved role as Loki in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and in ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’ He will also be featured in ‘High-Rise,’ ‘Kong: Skull Island’ and ‘The Night Manager’ TV Series, that TV event is set to debut in 2016.

As for ‘Crimson Peak’ the film is set to release just before Halloween, on October 16, 2015.
