FOX isn’t going to let NBC be the only live-musical event in town, the network announced two new cast-members for the upcoming live performance of ‘Grease,’ expected to air later this month. The network has cast Julianne Hough as good-girl Sandy, and Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) in the role of bad-girl Rizzo. The live-performance is set to air on January 31, 2015.
“Grease is one of the movies that made me want to be an entertainer, and I have literally been waiting my whole life to play Sandy,” said Hough in a statement. “My siblings and I watched it and played it out over and over when we were kids. This is my dream role and performing it live on television will be one of the most thrilling opportunities I’ve had in my career so far.”
Hudgens talked about her character at the event saying, “Being Rizzo is something I’ve never imagined, and I love that because it will be a new challenge.
