Idina Menzel will sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIX
The world can not get enough of Idina Menzel, the broadway star may be ending her run on the Broadway play ‘IF/THEN,’ but her appearances on major networks are non-stop. For the first time in her career, Idina Menzel will sing the National Anthem at the start of Super Bowl XLIX.
This year’s event will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, taking place on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Each year the NFL chooses one high-profile group or solo-performer to sing the Anthem before the game, last year it was Renee Fleming.
NBC will be hosting the big-game in 2015, John Legend has agreed to sing “America The Beautiful” for the event, while actor Treshelle Edmond is set to perform the American Sign Language renditions for both the National Anthem and for America the Beautiful.
The Pepsi Halftime Show will be headlined by pop-sensation Katy Perry, the event took-in over 110 million viewers last year in the U.S. alone, it was the most-watched television program in history and this year NBC hopes to break that record. We will know the two teams facing off in the Super Bowl after this weekend’s matchups.
