Fans of the hit series ‘Game of Thrones’ can watch season five in a wonderful new way thanks to a partnership between HBO and IMAX. The series will become the first TV series to receive a theatrical distribution on IMAX, and it all begins in April.

IMAX will air an exclusive season 5 trailer, and the final two episodes of the fourth season to get fans excited for the fifth installment to the series. This will all begin on January 23rd and run through January 29th at 150 theaters.

“Game of Thrones” was not shot in IMAX format, but will be digitally remastered for the run. The company’s did not release a price for the tickets, but you will be able to buy them on soon.

“The cinematic brilliance and grand scope of the series is perfect for the IMAX format,” said Pamela Levine, chief marketing officer at HBO. “We are always looking to provide fans with new and exciting ways to experience the show and viewing two key episodes, along with the new trailer, on such an impressive platform makes for a great event.”

“IMAX always seeks innovative ways to provide moviegoers a unique and differentiated experience and today’s partnership with HBO and ‘Game of Thrones’ achieves just that,” said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond. “This deal also furthers our efforts to offer exhibitors the opportunity to participate in alternative forms of content in a new and exciting way.”

Fans still have the cold winter to push through before the fifth season airs on HBO, season five will premiere in April 2015.
