Hobbit takes the box-office, Woman in Black 2 opens strong
For the third week in a row ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ has taken the top-spot at the box-office. The Warner Bros. film brought in another $22 million this weekend across the nation, as it nears a $225 million-dollar total in the United States alone.
Disney’s live-action musical ‘Into The Woods’ saw a $19 million-dollar gain this weekend, bringing the film’s domestic total to just over $91 million to-date. In third place overall was the Universal film ‘Unbroken,’ directed by Angelina Jolie. The film earned $18.4 million domestically, with a running total of $88 million in U.S. theaters.
The only major film to open this weekend came from Relativity Media called ‘Woman in Black 2’. The horror-title saw an impressive $15 million-dollar opening weekend here in the States, but only ranked fourth overall as the Winter Blockbusters continue to dominate the box-office. Rounding-out the top-five at the box-office was the 20th Century Fox family comedy ‘Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb’. The 20th Century Fox film took in another $14.5 million-dollars, and now sits with a domestic total of almost $90 million.
