Emmy-winner Edward Herrmann passed away this week at the age of 71. According to the initial reports, Herrmann died Wednesday in a hospital here in New York City after fighting brain-cancer for the last few years.
Herrmann had several major roles in film and television, but may be best-known for his work as Lorelai’s father Richard on the popular series ‘Gilmore Girls’. The actor’s death was confirmed by his manager Robbie Kass earlier today. His Emmy didn’t come from Gilmore Girls, but instead for his work on The Practice.
“Edward Herrmann, besides being an accomplished actor, was also a true gentleman and a scholar, as well as being an incredibly kind and decent man,” Kass said. “He will be sorely missed.”
