Winona Ryder and Tim Burton confirmed for Beetlejuice sequel
After months of rumors and leaks, Beetlejuice 2 is finally moving forward. The popular cult-hit starring Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Michael Keaton was released back in 1988 and is finally getting the sequel that many fans have been hoping for.
This week Tim Burton himself confirmed the news as he feverously promoties ‘Big Eyes’ with Amy Adams as that film prepares for its Oscar run. Winona Ryder was also confirmed for the role, returning as Lydia Deetz.
It just so happens that Burton and Winona Ryder found themselves together on-set of the The Killers’ recent music-video “Here With Me,” and after working together the two began their drive to make the movie happen. “I was so happy to see [Winona],” Burton said. “So those kinds of elements mean something to me. Michael, and her… and that character, I just miss it, there’s some freedom about that character that I love.”
While promoting his highly-acclaimed film ‘Birdman’ with Edward Norton and Emma Stone, Michael Keaton has said that he would like to return to the role of Beetlejuice if Burton returned to direct. Now that Burton is onboard with the film, we can only hope the cast comes back in full force.
