Instagram update adds five filters, new features

A new Instagram update has been released this morning that adds a few new filter options for photo-lovers to play around with, along with a few tweaks and changes to the UI. Mayfair and Willow were the last filters to be added to the app, almost two years ago, and today the company is handing out five new filters to help ring-in the new year.

You can find all of the new filters in your filter tray on iOS and Android devices, they are called: Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden and Perpetua. The company described the filters in their announcement saying, “They soften and subtly shift colors to achieve the look and feel you want for your each photo.”

“To make it easier to choose between filters, we’ve updated how they’re displayed. When you go to apply a filter to your photo, each filter icon on the bottom now displays a blurred preview of your photo with its effect applied. This lets you see at a glance how your photo will appear with each filter applied,” the company continued.

Instagram for iOS version 6.4.0 is available today in Apple’s App Store, and Instagram for Android version 6.12.0 is available today on Google Play.
