The new film adaptation is based on a screenplay written by James Lapine, with world-renowned artist Stephen Sondheim and was directed by Rob Marshall.

The cast alone should spark interest in moviegoers following the Christmas hioliday; with Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt and Christine Baranski all joining in just to name a few of the stars. Among those in attendance that night were Meryl Streep and Anna Kendrick, who spoke briefly about the film and their characters in the project:

The musical centers around a witch that tasks a childless baker and his wife with procuring magical items from classic fairy tales to reverse the curse put on their family tree.
