The NFL has finally confirmed that Katy Perry will be taking center-stage during the halftime show of Super Bowl XLIX. Perry appeared to be the front-runner for the job ever since rumors of her being courted by the NFL first hit the internet. Fans won’t have to wait that long to see the big-game, it will air on Feb. 1, 2015. Perry will take the stage just as her other pop-culture colleagues have in the past, a group that includes Madonna and Beyonce herself.

The announcement came from the NFL itself, which confirmed the news during the Sunday night game on NBC. More information like what songs the pop-queen will be performing and who will be her guest performers won’t be disclosed until the day of the event if the NFL has their way, but it may leak before then as things tend to do nowadays.

Just last year Bruno Mars was the main-act, the NFL confirmed afterwards that his performance was the most-watched half-time show of all-time, pulling in 115.3 million viewers. Beyonce’s 2013 halftime show took second-place with 110.5 million viewers. Pepsi didn’t waste anytime unveiling two two Katy Perry commercials to announce the event. At just The 30 years-old Perry is one of the biggest acts going, and the NFL Super Bowl will make for a great start for her 2015 career.
