Dallas Buyers Club director joins Amy Adams’ Janis Joplin film
The long-awaited Janis Joplin film is moving forward at long last, the studio behind the film now has a director in place and is expected to shooting as soon as 2015. It was four years ago that Amy Adams was given the role of Janis Joplin, but setbacks and delays have stalled the project. Now it looks like fans will finally get a chance to see Amy Adams’ portrayal of the famous musician after all these years.
Currently the film is working under the title “Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can,” and as previously stated Amy Adams will play the titular role. The last decision from the studio adds “Dallas Buyers Club” director Jean-Marc Vallee to the project. The script was written by Ron and Theresa Terry, with “Dallas Buyers Club” scribes Craig Borten and Melissa Wallack hoping to join the project to work on a rewrite.
Jean-Marc Vallee has helmed a string of successful films lately, other than “Dallas Buyers Club” he has also directed “Wild” with Reese Witherspoon, is currently working on “Demolition” with Jake Gyllenhaal, Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper, and also directed “Café de Flore” back in 2011.
