The full cast has yet to be disclosed, but Penelope Cruz will be joining the ridiculously good looking Ben Stiller in the new Zoolander sequel. The original film debuted thirteen-years ago if you can believe it, but Ben Stiller is coming back with a new installment and he will be sitting in the director’s chair.
Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson have yet to be confirmed for Zoolander 2, the project also doesn’t have an official title at this point. We do know that Stiller and Penelope Cruz have both signed-on for the film and that’s a pretty good start. Justin Theroux wrote the script, along with Stiller, who summed up the new movie for Empire back in 2011:
“It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later. Though the last movie ended on a happy note, a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way.”
Other than that the project has held together its secrets better than Star Wars Episode VII, more casting information will be released over the coming months if the production of the film gets underway in 2015.
