Kathy Griffin asked to take-over Joan Rivers’ hosting role on Fashion Police
E! is looking to keep ‘Fashion Police’ going, and it has offered the role to Kathy Griffin. The popular comedian has confirmed E! offered her the opportunity to assume the role once held by the late Joan Rivers. The news came from Griffin herself when she spoke at the Equality’s Now’s “Make Equality Reality” event on Monday. Although E! has offered her the role, Griffin has not accepted at this time.
“They did offer it to me,” Griffin told Access Hollywood at the event. “I don’t know if the situation is correct at this time for me or right for me at this time.” Griffin then added, “I really hope they continue in the spirit of Joan’s work.” Griffin talked about Rivers saying, “She brought a fearlessness and a brand of humor into our homes that we really need. Somebody’s gotta be out there poking fun at the ridiculousness of all of this!”
The show is one of the more popular series that airs on the network. “Fashion Police” has been a staple at E! since 2010, the show was made up of Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, George Kotsiopoulos and Rivers, until her death this past September.
