TIE Fighter and X-Wing set for a digital release

According to a recent finding on Neogaf, one of gaming’s best space-combat games of all time ‘TIE Fighter and X-Wing,’ are finally getting the digital re-release they deserve. GOG.com will soon be releasing the special editions of both games, which include higher resolutions and improved sound from the originals, in addition to both games’ expansion packs. Both games should run flawlessly on modern PCs without the need to tinker.

Both games will release for $10, which frankly, is a steal for what you’re getting. If you’ve never played either title and wonder what all the hoopla is about, buy them. Space combat games have essentially faded away in the past few decades, but it’s a great chance to experience two of the very best in their heyday.

This release sees the beginning of a partnership between Disney and GOG.com, which will also include additional titles such as Sam & Max Hit the Road, The Secret of Monkey Island, and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Which leads me to ask: How long before Full Throttle?
