Taylor Swift has a lot of celebrating to do today, not only is she dropping her highly-anticipated new album ‘1989,’ she is also the brand new “Global Welcome Ambassador” of New York City. Swift was on “Good Morning America” earlier this morning, where she announced a new partnership with NYC and Company.
Not only does our great city get to use T-Swift’s name and face, we will also be borrowing her lead “1989” track “Welcome to New York” as the theme song to the entire campaign. You can expect to see/hear the campaign in ads, billboards, taxis and probably anywhere else there is a screen over the next few months. In the new ad-video Taylor Swift talks about the smaller details of NYC that she has come to love after moving here, saying, “It’s almost like the city has its own heartbeat.”
Swift’s home in NYC was important enough to the actor/singer to get its own song on “1989.” “Welcome to New York” will follow “Shake It Off” and “Out of the Woods” from the new album.
That’s not all Taylor Swift will be doing for NYC this year, it was also announced that Swift will be spending New Year’s Eve in Times Square this year, she will appear on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015.”
