It was another big weekend for the horror genre as Universal Picture’s ‘Ouija’ brought in a little over $20 million at the domestic box-office. The film easily took the number one spot, outshining the action-film ‘John Wick’ from Lionsgate, which brought in $14.2 million over the weekend. This was the debut weekend for both films.
Falling from first to third place this week was the WWII tank-drama ‘Fury’ from Sony Pictures, that film took-in another $13 million in ticket sales raising its total to $46 million across the nation. 20th Century Fox’s popular film-adaptation of ‘Gone Girl’ dropped out of the top-three this week, landing in fourth-place overall with $11.1 million but reaching $124 million overall.
Rounding out the top-five was the animated tale ‘The Book Of Life,’ also from 20th Century Fox. The film reached $9.8 million this weekend and landing at just under $30 million domestically to date.
Missing the top-five was ‘St. Vincent’ starring Bill Murray, that film is from The Weinstein Company and landed at number six overall with $8.1 million in ticket sales.
