Kristen Stewart has quietly been creating a fantastic portfolio it in front of the camera through 2014, picking up terrific roles in foreign and indie-films and avoiding the overall extravagance of blockbuster titles. Her departure from major franchises seems to have paid off, and the new Kristen Stewart is getting everything she wants out of Hollywood, and she’s taking a well deserved break while she can.
After a firestorm of press-events for her roles in ‘Camp X-RAY’ and ‘Clouds of Sils Maria,’ Stewart spoke with USA Today telling the world she is going to be taking it easy for a while. Though Stewart will be resting, you will be seeing much more of her in 2015. Stewart has six confirmed projects in post-production or pre-production as we speak, all lined-up for 2015. Those include The Big Shoe (pre-production), ‘American Ultra,”Equals,’ ‘Anesthesia’ and ‘Still Alice.’
After all that hard-work, and terrific press from her work in ‘Camp X-RAY,’ Stewart said had this to say about her upcoming departure from the limelight:
“I’m going to take so much time off. I’m going to buy a live-work space in downtown L.A. and I’m going to make some (stuff) with my hands. Literally, I made that decision a few weeks ago. I’m making a short film. I’m making a bunch of (stuff). I don’t know how I’ll put it out. But I’m not going to hold it so preciously close to me. I write all the time.”
If her stock is rising, you may be wondering why Stewart is walking away at all. According to Stewart, it comes from a good place:
“I’m really happy right now, overly happy. I’m definitely not looking furtively—I like to look around at (stuff). I feel great. I’m not overcoming fear right now. Now, I really have no apprehension about anything, which is great. I can get behind all of my creative endeavors more so than ever before. I’m super happy and challenged and inspired and relaxed.”
Over the past few months everyone has seen a different Kristen Stewart, and it seems to be one that everyone can get behind. The actor is landing roles that are more meaningful to her than the films that made her famous, and her new ‘don’t care’ attitude about gossipy-press sights, or pleasing the general anti-Kstew crowd that once haunted her, has made her seem stronger than ever. There’s a new, smiling and carefree Kristen Stewart in the mix in Hollywood, and it’s paying off for everyone, including anyone that works with the actor.
In 2014 ‘Equals’ with Nicholas Hoult will be the actor’s largest film hitting the theaters. Not because of the budget or depth of the content, but because of the two main stars that are expected to drive the audiences to the theaters in droves. In either case, it is wonderful to see a younger actor navigate away from the spotlight to focus on more meaningful projects, and I can only hope that new KStew sticks around.
