The upcoming live-action movie based on the popular 80s animated-series ‘Jem And The Holograms’ now has a release date, the studio will premiere the film on October 23, 2015. The story will focus on a young woman turned pop-star and her rise to fame alongside her best friends and bandmates. The film is under the production company Blumhouse and stars Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Juliette Lewis, Molly Ringwald and Ryan Guzman.

The film is being directed by Jon M. Chu, working off a script written by Ryan Landels. Outside of the horror/thriller genre, October is a ever-changing landscape for the box-office. This year ‘Gone Girl’ managed to topple the horror-films two-weeks in a row with Fury expected to take week three, but family-friendly films like ‘Jem and the Holograms’ were in short supply, something that Universal seems to want to fix in 2015.
