It was confirmed today that everyone’s favorite Neil Patrick Harris will be the host of the 87th annual Academy Awards. The special-event will air live on ABC on Sunday, February 22, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. More information on other guests, nominations and presenters will be announced over the next few weeks.

The casting was made official on Twitter by Neil Meron, who will once again return to co-produce the Oscars with Craig Zadan. Neil Patrick Harris is no rookie when it comes to hosting, his previous gigs include the Emmys twice and has hosted the Tony Awards a record number four times.

Last year the 2014 Academy Awards were hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and captured 43.7 million viewers, it was the most popular Oscar show with viewers in over a decade.
