The Avengers 2 is sure to dominate the weekend box-office in 2015 but that won’t be the only screen Scarlett Johansson will be appearing on, the popular actor has signed on with Sony Pictures Television for a new limited series. The content will be based on the 1913 Edith Wharton novel “The Custom of the Country,” Sony TV confirmed the series earlier today.
Not only starring in the role of Udine Spragg, Johansson will also be one of the executive producers. The series is currently scheduled to take place over eight-episodes though a release window was not given at this time. Writing the screenplay will be Christopher Hampton (“Atonement,”) based on an original screenplay that he had finished prior to the deal. The story of “Custom of the Country” centers on Udine Spragg, a common girl from rural America trying to rise to the luxurious heights of New York’s cultural elite.
More information on other castings and a release window will be confirmed as the project moves farther along in production.
