Emma Watson joins Daniel Bruhl in thriller “Colonia”
It was confirmed today that popular actor Emma Watson will be starring across Daniel Bruhl in a new thriller titled “Colonia,” expected to shoot in Luxembourg, Munich, Berlin and South America in late 2014. The film is a political thriller involving insurrections, cults, and rebelions.
The film will directed by Florian Gallenberger, recounting the story of Lena and Daniel, a couple involved in the Chilean military coup of 1973. In the film Daniel is captured by Pinochet’s secret police, and Lena vows to recover him.
The title comes from the faux-charity that existed at the time under the disguise of a simple mission, which Lena joins in an attempt to rescue her lover. Preacher Paul Schäfer leads the cult, a secret and mysterious following of people that no one has left alive.
The script was written by Gallenberger and Torsten Wenzel, based on actual events of the time. No release window was given but more information on casting and other production notes will be released as the film moves further along.
