CBS saw a great start to its fall lineup this year with MADAM SECRETARY debuting with 14.3 million viewers and 60 MINUTES opening with its most-watched season premiere since 1997. Also gaining ground was the season premiere of THE GOOD WIFE, that series had its most-watched season premiere since 2011, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Sept. 21.
For its timeslot 60 MINUTES was first in viewers, falling behind NBC’s football coverage in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. When compared to last year’s premiere 60 MINUTES was up +105% in adults 25-54 and up +157% in adults 18-49, with an added 7.5m viewers.
At 10:00 PM, THE GOOD WIFE averaged 9.95 million viewers,+8% in viewers over last-year making this its most-watched season premiere since 2011. Sunday’s premieres also translated to a strong performance online. CBS.com saw double-digit growth across all key metrics over the same night of premieres last year, paced by the series premiere of MADAM SECRETARY and the season premiere of THE GOOD WIFE.
