This week Lifetime confirmed that the network has found the voice of Grumpy Cat for a new movie set to release later this year. Voicing the popular cat will Aubrey Plaza of “Parks and Recreation” fame. The two stars do share some common ground, both maintain a permanent scowl in the roles that made them famous.

Plaza plays the deadpan comedy role of April Ludgate on “Parks and Recreation,” if that character could transform into a cat, it would probably be Grumpy Cat. The film will be called “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever,” set to premiere on November 29 at 8/7c on Lifetime. The story follows Grumpy Cat’s adventures in a pet store, the cat is never picked to be adopted and that is the main reason why it has developed such a miserable outlook on life.

This all changes when a 12-year-old girl can understand Grumpy Cat, and can communicate with it. Soon after meeting the two set off on a new adventure, and find a little Christmas magic along the way of course.

Grumpy Cat has a name actually, Tardar Sauce, and is one of the most popular cats in cinematic history before even having a film role. The script was written by Tim Hill (Garfield 2) and Jeff Morris, with Morris directing.
