Marvel’s popular hotspot for comic-book themed movies will have a new Doctor on-call starting in 2016. The studio, Pinewood Studios in the U.K., has been the home of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ the upcoming and currently shooting ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ and various other Marvel films like ‘The Avengers,’ ‘Thor’ and ‘Captain America’ films just to name a few.
Now Marvel will film ‘Doctor Strange,’ just one of the latest films based on the Marvel Universe, starting in 2015 with a July 2016 release date. Reported sources at THR indicate that the studio is finalizing the contracts for the film at this time to begin production at the studio.
Doctor Strange is one of the classic characters in Marvel. He was once a well-respected neurosurgeon that, after suffering a near-fatal accident, becomes a powerful Sorcerer. The film is set to be directed by Scott Derrickson, Jon Spaihts wrote the script.
Joaquin Phoenix is expected to star in the film as Doctor Strange, but negotiations are not final at this time.
