The call of Broadway has claimed another of Hollywood’s young-actors, Vanessa Hudgens has been confirmed as the latest addition to the cast of ‘Gigi’ on Broadway. Hudgens will star in the revival, the original was back in 1973, at that time the play won a Tony for Best Score.

The team behind the new production, Lerner and Loewe, will first testout the musical on new audiences with a winter-run of the production in Washington, D.C. before the show makes its debut in New York in 2015.

This will be Hudgens’ first trip to Broadway. The story is of a young teen in Paris who meets a young bachelor that complicates her pre-planned and already plotted-out life. The play is a musical adaptation of the 1944 Colette novel, it was also a popular film in 1958 by Vincente Minelli. It was remade into another film, in 1973.

Hudgens has created quite a name for herself in Hollywood, starring in films like “High School Musical,” “Spring Breakers” and “Gimme Shelter.” Heidi Thomas will rewrite the screenplay with director Eric Shaeffer and choreographer Joshua Bergasse. “Gigi” is set to run from January 16 through February 12 at D.C.’s Kennedy Center. No details have been set for New York at this time.
